Carmelina Chavez Alvarez Obituary

At the age of 74 years, Carmelina Virginia Chavez Alvarez passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, March 11th. Carmen was born on March 18th, 1948, in Zhagli Azuay – Ecuador. On October 10th, 1968, she married her predeceased husband, Luis Guillermo Lojano Sanchez †. Although we mourn the loss of Mami Carmela, we rejoice at the reunion with her great love, Papi Lucho.

A loving mother to 6 children – Carmen was predeceased by Julia Celina Lojano †, Santiago Rafael Lojano, Julio Daniel Lojano, CarlosGuillermo Lojano, Julia Celina Lojano, and was predeceased by  Juanita Lojano †. Her passion to be a mother was so grand that she later adopted Carlos Rafael Lojano, Mami Carmela to 11 grandchildren – Johanny, Sharon, Jessica, Emily, Jeremy, Joselyn, Sofia , Erika, Helena, Camila, and Melissa.

“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children” (Proverbs 17:6).

There is beauty in the love of a mother. Mami Carmela was beloved by her children and grandchildren, and her love for them was infinite. In her eyes, there was no greater pride and joy than her babies. Her love will live on in all their hearts, and she will always be remembered for her endless warmth.Señora Carmelina was an avid member of her community in Cuenca Baños Azuay – Ecuador where she was a housewife and tended for the family farm animals. She was a generous woman who opened her heart to everyone, took care of the less fortunate, and helped in every way she could without asking for anything in return. Even today, neighbors and family remember her with great love and cried at the news of her passing.A devout Catholic, she received the Anointing of the Sick from Father Lucio Nontol TOR on Friday, March 10th.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Elizabeth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who gave her great care in her final years.

Visitation will take place on Sunday March 19th from 4pm-7pm at the Las Rosas-BannworthFuneral Home, Elizabeth. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday March 20th at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Newark followed by the Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, 350 E Edgar Road, Linden, NJ  at 12:00 PM.
