Yusuf Karakus, 34, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and compassion that will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Born on August 20, 1991, in Puturge, Turkey, Yusuf was the cherished son of Seydi Karakus and Ayten Zagil. From a young age, Yusuf displayed a gentle spirit, a bright mind, and a sincere respect for others. He carried the values of family, education, and hard work throughout every stage of his life, touching countless hearts along the way.

Yusuf made his home in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he built a life filled with love, friendship, and purpose. He was the devoted and loving partner of Fatma Zekiye Tuncalan, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. Together they shared a bond rooted in love, support, and mutual respect.

A passionate educator, Yusuf worked for Metropolitan Learning Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Teaching was more than just a profession to him—it was his calling. He believed deeply in the power of education and dedicated himself to helping students reach their fullest potential. Yusuf was admired by both colleagues and students for his patience, intelligence, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to learning. His warm personality and genuine care for others made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Outside of his work, Yusuf enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing conversations, laughter, and meaningful moments. He was known for his calm presence, generous heart, and ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. Whether offering guidance, support, or simply a listening ear, Yusuf always put others before himself.

Though his life was far too short, Yusuf’s impact on the lives around him was profound. He will be remembered as a loving son, devoted partner, trusted friend, respected educator, and compassionate human being whose memory will continue to live on in the hearts of many.

Yusuf leaves behind his beloved partner, Fatma Zekiye Tuncalan; his loving parents, Seydi Karakus and Ayten Zagil; along with many relatives, friends, coworkers, and students who will deeply mourn his passing and cherish the memories they shared with him.
