In Loving Memory of Marta R. Fernandez, September 2, 1948 – June 12, 2026.
Marta R. Fernandez, 77, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at Arbor Glen Center, Cedar Grove, NJ.
Born on September 2, 1948, in Havana, Cuba, Marta was the beloved daughter of Sandito Rosell and Ernestina Fernandez. She carried the rich traditions of her Cuban heritage throughout her life and was known for her strength, intelligence, and devotion to her family.
Marta dedicated much of her professional life to education. As a teacher, she touched the lives of countless students through her patience, knowledge, and commitment to learning. Her passion for education led her to work at Baruch College, where she continued to make a meaningful impact on those around her. A college graduate herself, Marta valued knowledge and encouraged others to pursue their goals and dreams.
Above all, Marta's greatest pride was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother whose guidance, support, and unconditional love shaped the lives of her children. She is survived by her children, Raymond Hoursey Jr., Janvieve D. Fogle, Jean Claude Ramey, Carlos Ramey, and Chardei Carey, who will forever cherish the memories, lessons, and love she shared with them.
Marta was previously married to James Ramey and remained dedicated to the well-being of her family throughout her life. She will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, warmth, and caring spirit. Those who knew her admired her determination, wisdom, and the compassion she showed to others.
Though her passing leaves a tremendous void, her legacy lives on through her children, family, friends, former students, and all whose lives she touched. The love she gave so freely and the values she instilled will continue to inspire generations to come. May her memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew and loved her.
