Maria M Pata

Maria Magdalena Pata, of Elizabeth, NJ, affectionately known as Maria M. Pata, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on March 14, 1943, in Gafanha da Encarnação, Portugal, Maria carried with her the values of faith, family, hard work, and kindness throughout her life. She later made her home in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she devoted herself to her family as a loving homemaker. Her greatest joy came from caring for those she loved and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Maria was the beloved wife of Jose F. Pata, with whom she shared many years of marriage. She was a devoted mother whose love, guidance, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of her family. She is especially remembered by her son, Roberto C. Pata, her three cherished grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched through her generosity, kindness, and gentle spirit.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Maria found great comfort in reading the Bible and dedicated much of her life to sharing God's Word through prison outreach ministries. Her compassion, unwavering belief, and desire to bring hope to others reflected the strength of her Christian faith and the love she carried in her heart.

Maria also found joy in many simple pleasures. She loved gathering with family and friends to enjoy traditional Portuguese churrasco, took pride in selling Mary Kay products, and was a talented seamstress whose skill, creativity, and attention to detail blessed those around her. Whether through her faith, her work, or the care she poured into every stitch and every act of kindness, Maria touched countless lives with grace and generosity.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Joao Caloico and Auzenda Mateiro. Though she never sought recognition, Maria's quiet strength, selflessness, enduring faith, and unwavering dedication to her family left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
