Maria Luisa Collazo, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 99. She was born on December 25, 1925, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, a Christmas gift to her family, and lived a long, full, and vibrant life surrounded by the love of those dearest to her.
She was a devoted mother to her four daughters: Iris Rivera, Wanda Pompa, Evelyn Crespo, and Esther Diamante. Though a widow, Maria filled her days with joy, adventure, and cherished memories.
Maria loved spending sunny days at the shore, especially in Atlantic City and Point Pleasant, where she delighted in being pushed along the boardwalk in the carts, soaking in the sea air and sunshine. Dancing was her passion, and she could often be found at her favorite Cuban restaurant, La Havana 59, moving to the music she adored. When she wasn’t dancing, Maria enjoyed shopping trips to the American Dream, where she loved walking through the stores and taking in the excitement around her.
She will be remembered for her zest for life, her love of family, and her ability to find joy in simple pleasures. Her spirit, laughter, and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Saturday, October 4th from 12-6pm in Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey Street Elizabeth, NJ 07201.
