With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Maria Helena Cardoso Tenente Correia, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 18, 2026, in Newark, New Jersey, at the age of 66.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday, June 26th from 4-8pm in Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey Street Elizabeth, NJ 07201.

For 16 years, Maria Helena fought her battle with cancer with unmatched bravery. Even while facing her own challenges, she lived to lift others up, always providing a kind word, a message of hope, and endless encouragement. She will be remembered for her brilliant smile, her enormous heart, and the strength she shared with everyone she met.

Born on November 13, 1959, in Coimbra, Portugal, Maria Helena was the beloved daughter of Manuel Gomes Tenente and Ana de Encarnação Cardoso. Though she later made her home in the United States, she carried the traditions, values, and warmth of her Portuguese roots with her throughout her life.

Maria Helena was a woman of remarkable strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. Through her care and dedication, she touched the lives of many and earned the admiration and respect of all who knew her.

Above all, Maria Helena’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her home. Together with her beloved husband, Arlindo Marques Correia, she built a life grounded in love, faith, resilience, and sacrifice. She created a home where everyone felt welcome, cared for, and unconditionally loved.

Whether through a comforting meal, a kind word, or the quiet ways she put others before herself, Maria Helena expressed her love through everyday acts of generosity and selflessness. Her strength, warmth, and gentle spirit will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Arlindo Marques Correia; her cherished children, Rui Miguel Cardoso Correia and Ana Raquel Cardoso Correia; her soon-to-be-born grandchild, whom she loved dearly even before meeting; along with extended family members, dear friends, and countless others whose lives were enriched by her kindness and love.

Although her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the unconditional love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved her.

Com profundo pesar e imensa tristeza, anunciamos o falecimento de Maria Helena Cardoso Tenente Correia, que partiu serenamente para o descanso eterno no dia 18 de junho de 2026, em Newark, Nova Jersey, aos 66 anos de idade.

A família e os amigos são bem-vindos para prestar suas homenagens na sexta-feira, 26 de junho, das 16h às 20h, na Funerária Las Rosas Bannworth, localizada na 1055 E. Jersey Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07201.

Nascida em 13 de novembro de 1959, em Coimbra, Portugal, Maria Helena era a querida filha de Manuel Gomes Tenente e Ana de Encarnação Cardoso. Embora mais tarde tenha construído a sua vida nos Estados Unidos, levou sempre consigo as tradições, os valores e o calor humano das suas raízes portuguesas.

Maria Helena foi uma mulher de força admirável, compaixão e dedicação inabalável à sua família. Durante muitos anos trabalhou como empregada doméstica, profissão que exerceu com dignidade, humildade e uma ética de trabalho exemplar. Através do seu cuidado e dedicação, tocou a vida de muitas pessoas e conquistou a admiração e o respeito de todos aqueles que tiveram o privilégio de a conhecer.

Acima de tudo, a maior alegria e o maior orgulho de Maria Helena era a sua família. Foi uma esposa dedicada, uma mãe amorosa e o coração do seu lar. Juntamente com o seu amado marido, Arlindo Marques Correia, construiu uma vida alicerçada no amor, na fé, na perseverança e no sacrifício. Criou um lar onde todos se sentiam bem-vindos, acarinhados e amados incondicionalmente.

Seja através de uma refeição preparada com carinho, de uma palavra amiga ou dos inúmeros gestos silenciosos em que colocava sempre os outros em primeiro lugar, Maria Helena expressava o seu amor por meio de atos diários de generosidade e altruísmo. A sua força, o seu carinho e a sua alma gentil permanecerão como uma luz orientadora para todos os que tiveram a felicidade de a conhecer.

Deixa na saudade o seu dedicado esposo, Arlindo Marques Correia; os seus queridos filhos, Rui Miguel Cardoso Correia e Ana Raquel Cardoso Correia; bem como familiares, amigos e tantas outras pessoas cujas vidas foram enriquecidas pela sua bondade e amor.

Embora a sua partida deixe um vazio impossível de preencher, o seu legado continuará vivo nos valores que transmitiu, nas memórias que criou e no amor incondicional que partilhou tão generosamente. Será profundamente sentida, carinhosamente recordada e eternamente guardada no coração de todos aqueles que a amaram.
