Luis Valdivia, 78, of Clark, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, son, and daughter-in-law.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday, May 14th from 8-11am in Las Rosas Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey Street, ELizabeth, NJ.

A Neocatechumenal Way Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Luis in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary and St. Michael's Catholic Church, Elizabeth, NJ. (Time pending)

Affectionately known by all as “Abuelo Luis,” he was a man whose warmth, sincerity, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born in Lima, Peru, Luis carried with him a deep love for his faith, his family, and his culture throughout his life. He was a sincere and correct gentleman, remembered for his integrity, kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Luis was the devoted husband of 21 years to his beloved wife, Lilianna. He was the cherished father of Jorge Valdivia and his wife, Vicky. He also leaves behind four loving grandchildren and four adored great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

A passionate musician and man of deep faith, Luis faithfully served as a salmista guitarist within the Neocatechumenal Way community for many years. Music and worship were an important part of his life, and he found great purpose in serving the Lord through song, fellowship, and evangelization. His faith was not only something he practiced, but something he lived daily through his kindness, humility, generosity, and steadfast devotion to others. Those who knew him through the Neocatechumenal Way will remember his joyful spirit, quiet wisdom, and sincere love for God and community.

Luis Valdivia, de 78 años, de Clark, Nueva Jersey, falleció en paz en su hogar el viernes 8 de mayo de 2026, rodeado del amor de su devota esposa, su hijo y su nuera.

Conocido cariñosamente por todos como “Abuelo Luis,” fue un hombre cuya calidez, sinceridad y espíritu amable dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo.

Nacido en Lima, Perú, Luis llevó consigo durante toda su vida un profundo amor por su fe, su familia y su cultura. Fue un caballero sincero y correcto, recordado por su integridad, bondad, humildad y dedicación inquebrantable hacia sus seres queridos.

Luis fue el amado esposo durante 21 años de su querida esposa, Lilianna. Fue el orgulloso padre de Jorge Valdivia y su esposa, Vicky. También deja a cuatro queridos nietos y cuatro adorados bisnietos, quienes fueron motivo de gran orgullo y alegría para él.

Apasionado músico y hombre de profunda fe, Luis sirvió fielmente durante muchos años como guitarrista salmista dentro de la comunidad del Camino Neocatecumenal. La música y la alabanza fueron una parte esencial de su vida, y encontró un gran propósito sirviendo al Señor a través del canto, la fraternidad y la evangelización. Su fe no era solamente algo que practicaba, sino algo que vivía diariamente mediante su bondad, humildad, generosidad y constante dedicación hacia los demás. Quienes lo conocieron dentro del Camino Neocatecumenal recordarán su espíritu alegre, su sabiduría serena y su sincero amor por Dios y por la comunidad.

Por encima de todo, Luis será recordado como un amoroso esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y amigo, cuya presencia brindaba consuelo, sabiduría y paz a quienes lo rodeaban. Su memoria vivirá para siempre en el corazón de su familia y de todos aquellos que lo amaron profundamente.
